LAKE ATITLAN + CHICHICASTENANGO MARKET– 2 DAYS/1 NIGHT

Day 1: Chichicastenango Indigenous Market
Pick up at hotels - 07:00 to 07:30 am.

Chichicastenango Indigenous Market

In the morning departure to Chichicastenango, where you will see the most colorful and picturesque outdoor market  in Guatemala, where  every Thursday  and  Sunday  locals  from  the  region  gather  to  buy  and  sell fruits, vegetables, flowers, grains, animals, textiles and handicrafts. A highlight is the visit to the Santo Tomás Church, where the indigenous Maya-Quiché pray to their gods according to the old Maya traditions. Free time for shopping. Lunch included. Afterwards, departure to one of the most beautiful lakes in the world:  Lake Atitlán.  In Panajachel, time to relax on the lake’s shore and enjoy the breathtaking vistas of the volcanoes.  Overnight at Hotel Atitlán or similar.


Day 2: Lake Atitlán (Santiago Atitlán)
Breakfast - 07:30 a 08:30 am
Pick up at hotels - 09:00 am.

Lake Atitlán

Lake Atitlán was formed by a collapsed volcanic crater and is surrounded by three impressive volcanoes (San Pedro, Atitlán and Tolimán) and 12 picturesque Maya-Cakchiquel and Maya-Tzutuhil villages. Today we will visit one of these villages. Departure by boat to the Maya-Tzutuhil village of Santiago Atitlán, famous  for Maximón,  a effigy that  is widely worshiped  by  the  inhabitants  of  Santiago.  Santiago also offers a variety of handicrafts, colorful textiles, woodcarvings and naïf paintings. Afterwards we return to Panajachel and continue to Guatemala City.

TIKAL AND YAXHÁ ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES– 2 DAYS/1 NIGHT

Tikal

Day 1: Flight to Flores. Yaxhá Archaeological Site visit
Pick up at hotels - 04:30 to 05:00 am
Tour duration - 11 hours.


Early in the morning, transfer to the airport to board the flight to Flores.  Arrival and transfer to the Archaeological Site of Yaxhá (“Turquoise Water”), considered an  important  civic  and  ceremonial  center during  the Mayan Classic Period; it is settled on a hill overlooking the beautiful Yaxhá and Sacnab lagoons.   Epigraphic evidence  assures  that  it  had an important  relationship with Tikal,  as  a  “satellite”  of   it  during  the Classic Period (300-950 A.D.).  Yaxhá is the only site in Petén, besides Tikal, that has a “Twin Pyramid Complex”.  Overnight at Hotel Villa Maya.

 

Day 2: Tikal
Breakfast - 07:30 a 08:00 am
Pick up at hotels - 08:00 am.
Tour duration - 10 hours.

Breakfast. The majestic city of Tikal, considered the largest and most monumental of all sites discovered in the Mayan World, was declared by UNESCO as a “World Heritage  Site”. Enjoy a guided walking tour to visit  the most  important plazas, complexes,  temples, ball courts, palaces and stelae. Also enjoy  the  tropical forest, nesting place of hundreds of exotic birds and  the habitat of a wide variety of wildlife. Lunch included. In the afternoon transfer to the airport to board the flight to Guatemala City.

ANTIGUA TOUR (02 DAYS / 01 NIGHT)

A visit to La Antigua  is  like  stepping back  in  time… cobbled  stone  streets,  sprays of bougainvillea bursting from  crumbling  ruins,  pastel  façades  under  terracotta  roofs,  parks  with  fountains make a  dramatic  setting surrounded by  three volcanoes: Agua, Fuego & Acatenango.   These are one of the reasons why Antigua is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the Americas & declared by UNESCO as “Cultural Heritage of Humankind”.

Antigua Tour

Day 1:
Pick up at hotels - 08:30 to 08:45 am

The focal point of La Antigua   is  the  lovely  Main  Plaza,  surrounded  by  the  Cathedral,  the  Captain-Generals  Palace,  the  City  Hall  and  the  Portal  de  las  Panaderas.    Another famous landmark is the Santa Catarina Arch and La Merced Church and Convent, a wonderful example of baroque art in Antigua. Visit to Finca Filadelfia, coffee tour and lunch included. Overnight at Hotel Casa Santo Domingo.

Day 2:
06:30 to 10:00 am Breakfast in hotel.
01:00 pm Transfer to Guatemala City.

American Breakfast included. Day at leisure to enjoy de city.
In the afternoon transfer to Guatemala City or to the airport.
